What we aim for on a call-out

Family-run · Harrogate · since 2008
The electrician who comes back afterwards.
Newton Electrical Contractors Ltd is a small family company serving Harrogate and district, working out of a unit at Birchwood Mews. Mark runs it; Lisa keeps the other half of it running; Rob, Harry and Ed are the electricians customers name in their reviews. That's the whole pitch, really — you know who's coming to your house.
In our own words, we believe in continued service to customers rather than the “first job, never to be seen again” approach. Which is why the reviews talk about independent reports, 1910 terraced rewires and two lads going above and beyond, and why so many of them are from people calling us back a second and third time.

Not a badge we bought — reviews that name the person who turned up. Mark, Lisa, Rob, Harry and Ed all get named by customers, which is about as good a reference as a trade gets.
A real registered company
Newton Electrical Contractors Ltd, company number 06492772, incorporated 4 February 2008 and still active — look it up on Companies House before you let anyone near your consumer unit.
24-hour emergency call-out
365 days a year. We'll try to talk you through the fault on the phone first — plenty get solved that way — and if we're coming out, we aim to be with you within the hour.
NICEIC & Part P standards
We work to NICEIC Approved Contractor standards and notify domestic work under Part P. We don't print scheme numbers on a website — ask and we'll send current certification straight over before you book.
Who turns up
Five names, and you'll know which one is coming.
Most trade websites put a stock photo of a smiling man in a hard hat on the homepage. We'd rather just tell you who works here — and let the reviews vouch for each of them.
Mark
Owner & director
Runs the company and still turns up on jobs. “Honest, reliable, straight-talking, trustworthy, not greedy and a pleasure to work with… Thanks again Mark.”
Lisa
The other half of the family side
Customers finish their reviews the same way: “Thank you Mark & Lisa!”
Rob
Electrician
“We required a complete updating of the electrics in our 1910 terraced house. The job was done by Rob. I cannot praise him highly enough.”
Harry
Electrician
“I had two amazing guys come out to do some work for me, Harry and Ed — they went above and beyond.”
Ed
Electrician
“11 out of 10 for service and reliability.”

Fuse board upgrade, wired out and labelled
RCBO ways in, earths and neutrals dressed into their bars, every way labelled and the whole board tested before it goes live.

Kitchen lighting on two layers
Pendants over the prep run for the working light, recessed downlights through the rest of the ceiling for everything else.

Commercial distribution board & isolator
New backboard, switch-disconnector and distribution board, earthing bonded and supply cables run into steel containment.

High-level lighting over a pool hall
Twelve metres of reach, IPAF-qualified electricians and our own access equipment — so leisure sites don't wait on a hired platform.
In their words

Gone dark at 2am?
The emergency line is answered around the clock. We'll try to work the fault out with you on the phone first — plenty get solved that way and it costs you nothing — and if we're coming out, we aim to be with you inside the hour.
What to do before we arrive →Emergency call-out mobile
First call to final certificate.
01
Ring the office
Call 01423 566669 and tell us what's going on — a flickering circuit, a fuse board that belongs in a museum, a landlord certificate you need by Friday, a shop fit-out. Out of hours and urgent? Ring 07525 763337 and we'll often work through it with you on the phone first.
02
A named electrician, booked in
You'll be told who's coming and roughly when. It'll be Mark, Rob, Harry or Ed — the same faces the reviews are about, not a subcontractor we found this morning.
03
Tested, certified, and we stay on the end of the phone
Work is tested and certified where the job calls for it, and the board gets labelled up with the inspection and re-test dates. Then we're still here next year when something else needs looking at.
Where we work

Based at Birchwood Mews in Harrogate and out daily across Knaresborough, Wetherby, Ripon, Thirsk, Leyburn and Skipton, plus the villages in between. If you're not sure whether you're in range, ring and ask — we usually are.
