The whole installation.

From an extra socket to a full rewire, a landlord certificate to a shop fit-out — explained plainly, priced before we start, tested and certified where the job calls for it. Family-run since 2008, working to NICEIC Approved Contractor and Part P standards.

01

Full & Part Rewires

Complete and partial rewires for houses that were wired for a different century — more circuits, more sockets, safer cabling throughout, and chases made good rather than left for you. We've rewired everything from 1910 terraces to family houses mid-extension, working room by room so you can still live in the place while it happens. Tested and certified on completion.

02

Fuse Board & Earthing Upgrades

The single best safety upgrade most houses can have. We replace tired fuse boards with modern consumer units, sort main protective bonding and earthing at the same time — the bit people forget — and label every way clearly so the next person knows what's what. Board gets tested, certified and marked with its next inspection date.

03

Inspection & Testing (EICR)

Periodic inspection and testing of an installation, with every circuit tested and any coded defects written up plainly. Customers come to us for independent electrical reports precisely because we'll tell you what actually needs doing and what doesn't — one recent report came back described as “professional and thorough”, which is the whole point of paying for one.

04

Landlord Certificates

Landlord electrical safety certificates for single lets, HMOs and portfolios, including estate-agent-managed properties. We test, report, quote for any remedials separately so you can see what you're paying for, and send the certificate through as soon as it's signed off.

05

Fault Finding & Repairs

Something keeps tripping and nobody can tell you why. We chase faults methodically — insulation resistance, circuit by circuit, appliance by appliance — until we've found the actual cause rather than swapping a breaker and hoping. Nuisance tripping, failed showers, dead ring finals, burnt accessories and overheating boards all covered.

06

Sockets, Switches & Extra Circuits

Extra double sockets, USB outlets, outdoor sockets, dedicated circuits for ovens, hobs and home offices, and full first- and second-fix for extensions, loft conversions and garden rooms. Cables run properly in safe zones so the next person to drill a wall doesn't find them the hard way.

07

Lighting — Indoor, Garden & Security

Lighting designed around the room rather than the ceiling rose you inherited: recessed downlights, LED strip, low-voltage schemes, pendant runs over islands and dining tables, and wall lights switched from the right place. Outside, garden lighting and PIR security lighting, properly weatherproofed and RCD-protected.

08

Electric Shower Installation

Electric shower installs and swaps, with the cable, protective device and isolator sized for the unit rather than whatever happened to be there before. We check the supply can take it before we quote — the bit that catches people out when a 7.5kW shower gets replaced with a 10.5kW one.

09

Fire Alarms & Smoke Detection

Mains-powered, interlinked smoke and heat alarms for homes and rented property, and commercial fire alarm installation and maintenance for shops, offices and care premises. Installed and tested, with a clear record of what's fitted where.

10

CCTV & Door Entry

CCTV installation and door entry systems for homes and commercial sites — cameras positioned to be useful rather than decorative, cabling run and terminated neatly, recording set up and handed over with you knowing how to use it.

11

Commercial & Facilities Electrical

We supply electrical services to local councils, shops, offices, MOD sites, nursing and care homes, builders, facilities management companies, caravan parks — residential and touring — landlords and estate agents. Installation, remedials, testing and planned maintenance, scheduled around your trading hours rather than ours.

12

High-Level Work — Access Equipment to 12m

Sports halls, swimming pools, gyms, warehouses and atriums: our electricians are IPAF-qualified and we run our own access equipment, certified for lifting operations, reaching up to 12 metres. That means high-level lighting and containment can be done without waiting on a hired platform and a third party's diary.

13

Maintenance Contracts

Ongoing maintenance arrangements for properties and premises that need a regular pair of eyes — periodic testing scheduled before it lapses, remedials tracked and one number to ring. This is the “continued service” half of how we work, rather than the one-job-and-gone approach.

Credentials, plainly

No badge wall. Ask us and we'll send the paperwork.

We work to NICEIC Approved Contractor and Part P standards. Plenty of trade sites line up scheme logos you can't check from your sofa; we'd rather send you our current certification and insurance directly, before you commit to anything.

The one thing you can check right now is the company itself: Newton Electrical Contractors Ltd, company number 06492772, incorporated 4 February 2008 and still active. Look us up on Companies House.

Not sure what you need?

Describe the job or the fault and we'll tell you straight what's involved — including when the answer is “that doesn't need doing”. For larger work we'll come and look before we quote.
