A small family company.

Newton Electrical Contractors Ltd is a small family company serving Harrogate and district, run by Mark from a unit at Birchwood Mews on the south side of town. Lisa runs the other half of it — customers tend to sign off their reviews “thank you Mark & Lisa” — and Rob, Harry and Ed are the electricians who turn up at the door.

In our own words, we believe in continued service to our customers rather than the “first job, never to be seen again” approach. It isn't a slogan so much as how the diary actually looks: a good part of every week is people ringing back — the landlord whose certificate is due again, the family who had the 1910 terrace rewired and now want the garden lit, the care home that has us on a maintenance arrangement.

The work splits two ways. Domestically that's rewires and part rewires, fuse board and earthing upgrades, inspection and testing, landlord certificates, fault finding, sockets and extra circuits, indoor, garden and security lighting, electric showers, fire alarms, CCTV and door entry. Commercially it's councils, shops, offices, MOD sites, nursing and care homes, builders, facilities management companies, caravan parks, landlords and estate agents — with IPAF-qualified electricians and our own access equipment reaching up to 12 metres for the high-level work.

Behind all of it sits a 24-hour emergency call-out, 365 days a year. We'll try to talk a fault through with you on the phone first — that's free and it often works — and if we're coming out, we aim to be there within the hour.

On credentials, plainly: we work to NICEIC Approved Contractor and Part P standards. We don't print scheme numbers on the website — ask and we'll send our current certification and insurance over before you book.
